Gaelic Football

Background

The promotion of Gaelic Games is central to our ethos and Gaelic Football has been played in our school for many years. Our school enjoys very close connections with our local GAA clubs and for many students, coming together to compete in the school colours remains a highlight of their time in school. Although many of our players have gone on to representative football for their counties Football will always be an inclusive sport in the CBS and all students are welcome to get involved, regardless of prior experience or club affiliation.

Our school has experienced a lot of success on the football field, most notably when winning the Masita GAA All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Drummond Cup Final in Croke Park in 2015. Last year in 2023/24, the senior footballers won the senior South Leinster Final.

The school offers Gaelic football at competitive level for all ages. We enter competitions with the following teams: Under 14, Junior (u16) and Senior (U 19). The involvement of all 1st years students is also nurtured through involvement in various blitzes and events throughout the year.

Training

Training takes place after school in the gym or on our school pitch. Matches are played both at home on our school pitch, and at various ‘Away’ destinations. Students should wear white togs when representing the school.
