St. Mary’s Academy CBS is thrilled to announce the commencement of an exciting new development that promises to revolutionise it’s campus and provide state-of-the-art learning facilities for current and future students alike.
Following the recent granting of planning permission, the school is poised to initiate a €30 million building project that will enhance the educational experience for its pupils. Located at the rear of the existing campus, the new facility will be equipped to support a diverse range of activities and will offer students access to modern facilities across multiple disciplines.
Key features of the development include specialised rooms dedicated to Home Economics, Music, Graphics, Multimedia, Construction Studies, Technology, and Engineering. Another standout aspect of the new campus will be its four modern science laboratories, reflecting the school’s ongoing commitment to advancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. In addition, the art rooms, designed with panoramic views, will also provide inspiring spaces for artistic exploration. A Special Educational Needs suite, complete with a sensory garden, will further create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
The new development will continue to prioritise student well-being with enhanced dining and social areas, a modern library, a multi-use PE hall, a fitness suite, and an Astro Turf pitch for both sports and recreational activities. This strategic design fosters creativity and innovation, continuing the culture of nurturing student potential, both academically and personally, that is synonymous with St. Mary’s Academy CBS.
The project is a testament to the hard work of the school’s Board of Management, with particular thanks to the Chairperson, Mrs. Patricia Wall, whose unwavering commitment to enriching the educational landscape has been pivotal in bringing this vision to life. The dedication of the Board has ensured this ambitious project is now a reality. Additionally, the school extends its sincere gratitude to local Councillor Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, whose advocacy and steadfast support throughout the planning process was vital in securing the future of this exciting development.
As the initiative progresses, St. Mary’s Academy CBS looks forward to sharing updates on this exhilarating new chapter. This significant investment in the future of education will not only benefit current students but will also open the door to countless opportunities for future generations, further solidifying the school’s status as a hub of educational excellence in Carlow.
